Or exercise you still play slowly, fifty-fifty afterward practising? If this is the matter, I call back you'll need to work with technique. However, fifty-fifty with improving technique, the ability to play faster develops slowly, so you lot'll need to exist patient.

His main focus is teaching people to play Jazz & Pop using Atomic number 82 Sheets (simplified notations that include a tune line with LH chords). He doesn't become into Classical piano music with two staffs (Treble & Bass). His Telly series "Scott, the Piano Guy" & "Pianoforte in a Flash" is all Jazz & Pop arrangements for pianoforte. I do scout his videos from time to time merely I'm mainly into Classical and tin can read music on two staffs at an intermediate level. Or please suggest another method. I purchased the Piano In A Wink grade years ago and went through it. I also purchased the Duane Shinn Crash Course and only went through a few lessons. In my opinion, you become more for your money with the Duane Shinn class. Either form volition teach y'all things yous do non know and so in that sense they are worthwhile. You take already experienced lessons from a live instructor, then y'all know what that is. You say you lot want to "learn to play lots of songs faster". Yes, I hear yous. We all want that. The truth is .... learning to play piano takes time and a lot of exercise. If you savor practicing you have a risk to exist successful. Unfortunately, at that place are no shortcuts or "faster" means to go there. I would recommend working with a alive teacher. Describe the type of music you would similar to learn to play and let that teacher help y'all get there. Regular lessons with the correct teacher volition help you gain the skills y'all need in society to play music that others enjoy hearing. You just take to practise the work. Good Luck +1 I'g familiar with Scott Houston, "The Piano Guy", and I similar him. He has a great personality, and very personable. That said, I think his greatest skill is marketing. He sells "encouragement" and "motivation" more than so than superb lessons on how to read music notation and play the pianoforte at tempo, while reading. That is non a criticism, but only the way I see it. Again, Scott is VERY likable and friendly. And, his course would exist corking if you just want to be able to play some familiar favorites that are pretty uncomplicated. Simply that can be fun too. I came across a guy on Facebook named "Jonny May", who as well offers online courses, for a diversity of genres, or by ear playing. He starts out with some gratuitous video lessons, which are very expert, and and then offers his more in depth lessons for a cost. I signed up for a few of his lessons, but don't spend plenty time watching them. Likewise FWIW, in that location are lots and lots of YT video piano lessons online for free. You just take to discover them and watch them multiple times. Or, the face-to-face instructor may be the way to become, with COVID settling down a bit. I want to acquire to read music notation better and faster as well, only I don't think Scott is our human for that particular goal, although you still may acquire something and enjoy it if yous pay for his online lessons. I'm just going to become with my Easy Piano books and soldier on. Cheers again! I'yard in the same boat, and nosotros are about the aforementioned historic period. I've been learning to play by ear, more often than not on my own, for about 15 years. I've had a brawl and enjoyed it a lot, but now realize I would have progressed faster with some kind of education. Merely doing our own thing is appealing and is a lot of fun too, likewise as rewarding; and, I have made some progress. I recently purchased the Alfred's Premier Piano Express, All-In-One Accelerated course book. That is what i of the free Facebook piano lesson instructors is going through. Rest bodacious that well-nigh everything you accept learned thus far is a positive thing, and you can build on that. When it comes to learning to read music while sitting at the piano, like someone else said, information technology just takes time, attempt, and do to progress at information technology and go better at information technology over time. My biggest trouble is as well being as well impatient. I'll get started with the sheet music, and drift off on a fast boogie-woogie tune and forget all about the music reading.
